Portulacaria Afra "Variegata" (also known as Variegated Elephant Bush) is a succulent with fleshy, variegated leaves and red stems. Native to South Africa, it’s an attractive plant often used in bonsai and as a drought-tolerant ground cover.
Care Instructions:
- Light: Prefers bright, indirect sunlight, though it can tolerate some direct sun. Indoors, place it near a sunny window.
- Water: Water sparingly, allowing the soil to dry out between waterings. Overwatering can cause root rot.
- Soil: Use well-draining, sandy soil, such as a cactus mix.
- Temperature: Thrives in warm temperatures, ideally between 65-85°F (18-29°C). Protect from frost.
- Fertilizer: Feed with a balanced, diluted fertilizer during the growing season (spring and summer) once a month.
